| ____________________________ _________________________________ Game Title: Bionic Commando Rearmed ___________________ Game Genre: 2D Platformer, Action ___________________ "A Blast From The Past, With Pretty Colors!" Summary: Bionic Commando takes us back to simpler time, with lots of cursing, and silly clothing! Even though it takes place in the 2020s, you get a very big 80's vibe from it. You take control of a super soldier named Spencer who has a bionic arm that can shoot a grappling hook out, allowing you to do some pretty crazy things! The gameplay is fun all the way through, and the boss fights are spectacular. Graphics are excellent, and really show what next gen side scrollers are made of. The sound track will not dissapoint for you techno fans, and for anyone who likes classical game music (by classical I mean music from the 8-bit era). The soundtrack alone is well worth the $10, but the game itself is absolutely great, and if you haven't yet picked it up you should! ___________________ Release Date: 8/12/2008 ___________________ ESRB Rating: [M] Mature ___________________ Consoles: PS3, X360 ___________________ Developer: Grin ___________________ Player(s): 1-4 ___________________ Ratings: ------------------------- Graphics: 9/10 +Awesome environments. +Great vibrant colors. -You can only explore 2 dimensions! ------------------------- Graphics Description: The graphics of Bionic Commando Rearmed are absolutely great, especially considering the folks over at Grin are working on a 3D counterpart at the same time! You will not be disappointed by the graphics in this game, they are definitely up to next gen standards. Character models are excellent for a 2D game, and the backgrounds are epic. For $10 you can't go wrong with this game as far as graphics go. __________________________ ------------------------- Gameplay: 7/10 +Grappling hook is lots of fun to use. -Sometimes the controls are frustrating. ------------------------- Gameplay Description: The controls are a bit frustrating at times, but for the most part they work out ok. Grappling around is lots of fun, and the environments often permit you to do lots of it. The good thing about the PS3 controller is that you can easily use either the anologue sticks, or the pad without to much change in the use of the other buttons. For 360 owners this could be a bit more of a problem. Some aspects of control are just a pain to deal with, but it is a remake and that's what you get, for good, and for bad. __________________________ ------------------------- Sound: 9/10 +Awesome sounds! +Excellent music soundtrack. +/-Made for techno lovers. ------------------------- Sound Description: The soundtrack is absolutely awesome in my opinion. But for some it might not be their cup of tea. The in game sounds are great, they sound realistic, and they are perfectly set. It shows that the developers really wanted this game to turn out good, and it definitely did! Like I said earlier in the review, the soundtrack alone is worth the $10 you're paying for this game. ------------------------- --Overall: 8.3/10--____________________________ | |
